Arts in Education

Art is a vital aspect of every child’s educational experience, which is why the Dallas Arts District Alliance offers free cultural educational programming to North Texas students grades 5-12. Studies continuously show the importance of arts education in early childhood. The arts allow our children to build analytical skills, acceptance, confidence, and self-esteem. Studies have shown that participation in arts activities increases test scores, increases grade point averages and decreases drop out rates.

During our annual art programs students are offered opportunities to experience art on a personal level. Through our partnerships with ArtsPartners and Artreach-Dallas, we are able bring students to The District to learn the history, culture and civic role of the Dallas Arts District on our docent lead Stroll. We also offer an in-classroom curriculum that satisfies the standards set by the State of Texas. Many of the children involved in our educational programs are first time visitors to the Arts District. For some, it is their first time to participate in a cultural activity. By fostering an interest in the Arts, the Dallas Arts District Alliance is helping to build the North Texas arts community.
